Sword of the Assassin

This Vietnamese Martial Arts/Revenge movie was okay.  I'm a big fan of revenge films so I expected this to deliver.  There were some good fight scenes and a lot of dramatic moments.  Beautiful cinematography.   Some of the landscapes were awesome.   Would love to visit those areas someday.  The story is about this boy whose family were executed by the government.   He gets raised by a Buddhist and martial arts expert.   12 years later, he's out and wanting revenge.  Then things get more complicated and they introduce this forbidden blood letter angle.  This letter has the proof to bring justice to our main character's family name.  The revenge plot gets preachy.  I wanted more fights and violent scenes but sometimes you can't have everything.   Overall,  it was okay.  Decent story.  Apparently every character here has a very good photographic memory about what happened 12 years before.
Okay to see once and especially with a big bowl of Pho.

Had me some Pho earlier in the day to cure a bad hangover.   This is also the reason why I decided to watch a Vietnamese movie at the last minute.  Luckily,  Netflix had this one.
