Killshot

New Release Tuesdays Presents:

Killshot
This is your typical same old hitman story
except the main character is not a hitman.
I rented this for the hitman story and Mickey Rourke.
But I was a little disappointed.
I didn't like how the story developed and turned out.
Major plot hole towards the end.
And for the record, Tarantino has nothing to do with this.
He was involved as an executive producer
in the very beginning, but dropped out
for unknown reasons.

This movie would of been bad ass
if it were to focus on another direction
and got rid of that plot hole.
I did like some of the dialogue and one liners
that Rourke provided.

Spoiler: the plot hole: The hitman and his accomplice
faked their own death so the fbi won't be looking for them.
That plan worked. Except, the hitman and his stupid
accomplice still go after the couple, even after the fact.
There's no reason to.

My Bloody Valentine 3-D

My Bloody Valentine 3D
Good entertaining slasher film.
It has a little bit of a grindhouse feel to it,
especially the first half.
The 3D effects are awesome.
The story was okay but the effects and editing
made it worth it.

Valkyrie

Photobucket
Valkyrie
Not too shabby!!
Director Bryan Singer does a great job
(I haven't been satisfied since the first X-MEN movie).
This is a World War 2 movie and I'm a big
fan of that specific genre.
It was a little tense in the middle which was a
good bridge for the climax.
This movie had a great look.
I like the colors. I need to talk to the
Director of Photography so I can get some pointers.
Photobucket
Overall, good entertainment.
It's a must for World War 2 movie fans.

Fanboys

New Release Tuesdays Presents:
Photobucket
Fanboys
This was better than I expected.
So that's always good.
This is a movie for fans of Star Wars, obviously.
Not for fans of Star Trek.
You'll know why if you see this.
There's a lot of funny scenes.
The actors make a great team.
I love all the cameos from the different
people.
Good flow.
Photobucket
Highly Recommended, only if your a Star Wars Fan.

Black Caesar

[For now on, every 3rd Monday of every month
is Gangster Film Night Monday. The idea is to watch
a gangster movie that I never seen before. To kick off
this tradition, I will pick one of my favorite Gangster film of all time]

Gangster Film Night Presents:
Photobucket
Black Caesar
If Coffy had a mixed baby with Scarface,
we get Black Caesar.
This was a good blaxploitation gangster film.
Good as in good for a low budget flick.
We got this guy killing other guys
to get to the top of the underworld.
Nothing fancy. No bells and whistles.
Just straightforward action.
Photobucket
My grade for this is a straight up B
for the average entertainment.

High Hopes

Photobucket
High Hopes
A low budget stoner comedy with very bad
editing.
I was disappointed.
I kinda knew I wasn't going to like it,
I give it a try anyways because of some
of the people in it.
It's got a semi decent story but not worth the rent.
I should of just watch Half Baked again,
now that is a stoner comedy
worth watching.

Fido

Photobucket
Fido
An original zombie movie.
I like the concept.
Scientist found a way to control zombies.
Now they do everything people tell them to do,
like cut the grass.
There's a little bit of funny moments here.
The rest of it was just too happy and weird.
It's a dark comedy.
Photobucket
This is not anything special like the previous movies
I saw today, which was Return of the Living Dead and
Shaun of the Dead, but it was worth to check out.

Johnny Got His Gun

Photobucket
Johnny Got His Gun
This is my first time seeing this anti-war classic.
I heard of it long time ago
when Metallica's video: "One" came out.
As a matter of fact, that video is included
in the special features.
This movie starts off good,
then gets a little too slow,
and then it comes back good in the end.
I love the dream sequences this guy has.
It's sad but powerful.
Good message.
Photobucket
"I'm the boss, this is champagne, Merry Christmas!!!"

Taken

New Release Tuesday Presents:
Photobucket
Taken
This was a very entertaining action movie.
Liam Neeson kicks so much ass in this movie.
There some unexpected action and
some good editing.
I think they exaggerated too much on the father
and daughter relationship in the beginning
of the movie.
But the last hour makes up for everything.
Photobucket
Entertaining as hell!!
I rather watch this again than see
the Transporter movies or the Crank movies.

Lady Snowblood 2

Asian Cinema Night Presents:

Photobucket
Lady Snowblood 2: Love Song of Vengeance
Part two is way different than part one.
I didn't enjoy it as much. But it is fair.
Not disappointing, but not living up to the first one.
Maybe because there's no revenge story in here
and we only see Lady Snowblood in action
in the beginning and towards the ending of the film.

Recommend the first one. It's a must buy.

American Teen

Photobucket
American Teen
This is a decent documentary.
I can relate to it since I went to a high school
in a town kind of like this.
This serves as an inspiration for somebody
who's about to finish high school.
The people are real, except
there was times when I felt that
they were acting because the camera was there.
For the most part, the documentary captures
what high school life is about in a small town.
Photobucket
This is a fair entertaining documentary worth to watch.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

New Release Tuesdays Presents:

Photobucket
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The lastest from David Fincher.
This time he does a long sad romantic
drama for the first time.
Good performances by everybody.
The pace is good.
Even at 1:30 am this movie still had me awake.
Surprisingly.
Although, I thought the ending could of been
a little better.
I love the parts where that old man
keept saying that he's been eletricuted 7 times.
Photobucket
It's got a little bit of everything:
sadness, a little comedy, romance,
and a little bit of mystery.

Now that I seen all of the movies that were nominated
for Best Picture at the Oscars,
I would say it was a hard choice,
but Slumdog Millionaire deserved to win.
The next in line would be this one.
Then: The Reader, Frost/Nixon, and Milk.

Bottle Shock

Photobucket
Bottle Shock
There's nothing like it but
to have a couple of bottles
of White Zinfandel
while watching this film.
Good experience.
It's France vs. California.
Guess who won??
That is not a shock.
California all the way.
This is based on a true story.
I liked the shots of the grapevine
and the fields.
Photobucket
The next time I see it, I better have a bottle
of Chardonnay from the Napa Valley.

Martyrs

Photobucket
Martyrs
It was between this french horror movie
or The Uninvited.
I'm glad I chose to check this one.
I was wanting a revenge movie.
15 minutes into the movie and the revenge
part is over.
The rest of it was a shocking ride
of torture.
I was not bored at any moment.
But towards the end I was tortured
there with the character.
I wanted them to make it stop.
The ending was original.
Photobucket
This movie is kind of like Hostel and some
of the Saw movies. If you're a fan of that then
this is a must see.

The Bodyguard / Sister Street Fighter

Friday at the Grindhouse Presents:

Photobucket
The DVD I bought had both of these movies back to back.
I bought it for Sister Street Fighter.
What I got was two entertaining movies.

The Bodyguard
I read reviews on this movie that it sucks.
After watching it, it ain't bad.
I enjoyed it.
It's cheesy but I can't expect
a bad ass Jackie Chan flick here.
This is Sonny Chiba, the master of karate.
I liked his first appearance in the movie.
I like most of the shots.
A little violent than what I expected.
Not violent like movies from today,
but violent for its time.
Photobucket
This is recommended for fans of Sonny Chiba.
After a bad ass fighting scene, Chiba says,
"This sure is a bloody show. We should of sold tickets, huh?"

Sister Street Fighter
This fuckin' rocked.
A little slow here and there,
but this girl can kick some ass.
A little over the top.
Photobucket
I liked some of the costumes
worn by some of the bad guys.
