CHE (part 1 and part 2)

So we got tickets to see Che part one and Che part two.

Photobucket
Che Part One
Very well put together.
A good drama with some action and even a
little bit of comedy.
The actors go all out on this.
The cinematography looks bad ass.
This movie does bring satisfaction.
Some scenes did took a while.
And I didn't like the way this movie ended.
I thought it could of been better (like teasing part two).
Besides these things, I enjoyed the film.
Photobucket
This is a war film. So if you're in the mood
for a war film with drama, this one is for you.
Fans of Che Guevarra, this is a must see classic.

Photobucket
Che Part Two
More war with drama.
Benicio Del Toro does an outstanding
job in portraying Che.
To me, Part One was better, but this one is
still alright. The only problem I had
was that a lot of scenes dragged on for a long time.
This one could of been cut down to 1 hour and 30 min.
I love the way they did the ending.
We all know it's a tragic ending but they managed
to pull it off good.
Photobucket
Overall, CHE, was a good movie that easily could
of been a 3 hour movie both of them put together
instead of 5.
Steven Soderbergh did a good job but this is not
as good as Traffic.
If you're in the mood for a good epic,
Che would not disappoint.

Five Fingers of Death

Photobucket

Five Fingers of Death
A bad ass kung fu exploitation flick
It started out kind of slow and boring at first
but then it picks up. In the end you
get a good masterpiece.

Photobucket

Fans of Master of the Flying Guillotine
and other 70's exploitation flicks, this
is a must buy.

Executive Koala

Photobucket

Executive Koala
A weird film about a human size Koala
who has some problems.
The idea is very original.
And it has a few funny scenes.
But overall, it was not as good
as I thought it was going to be.
I love Japanese cinema because
they do a lot of things different.
This film is different and some
people might like it but it wasn't for me.

Photobucket
It has some kind of Troma feel to it.
So if you're a fan of Troma movies,
then for sure check this out.

RockNRolla

Photobucket

RockNRolla
This DVD just came out today.
The latest film by Guy Ritchie.
And let me tell you, he's back.
Yeah, this ain't no classic like Lock Stop.. or Snatch,
but it's up there. The only complaint is some of
the narration. But overall, it's worth to watch.

Photobucket
Fast paced, fast dialogue, and instead of diamonds (Snatch) is
about a painting.

Navajo Joe

Photobucket

Navajo Joe
A spaghetti western by italian filmmaker Sergio Corbucci.
Although, the dvd is an english dub version, it
was filmed in Italy with italian actors except for Burt Reynolds.
This movie was okay.
Some scenes were good but the story was kind of weak.
I liked Corbucci's other films better than this one.
I'm talking about Django and The Great Silence.
If you see it, you'll notice music that comes
out in Kill Bill Vol. 2

Slumdog Millionaire

Photobucket

Slumdog Millionaire
The first movie to see this year in the theater.
What a good experience it was.
This is a movie with good spirit and soul.
The best part of this is the great story
and the wonderful editing.
It reminded me a little bit of City of God
but with a love story.
This is my second favorite movie from Danny Boyle
(the first favorite being, Trainspotting).

Photobucket
Worth to see it and to buy it when it comes out
on DVD.

El Rey De La Montaña

Photobucket

El Rey De La Montaña
Your typical suspense chase thriller in the wild
in spanish.
Some parts got me going.
And I always admire shots that
show great landscapes.
But overall, there's nothing special about this.
Just for entertainment.
I didn't really like the ending.

Photobucket
I say if you're in the mood for suspense
then rent this one and you'll be in suspense
until 10 minutes before it ends.

Takashi Miike's Dead Or Alive

Photobucket

Dead Or Alive
What can I say about Takashi Miike?
This is the 5th Takashi Miike film that I've seen.
And I gotta tell you, he doesn't dissapoint me.
This is not as good as his other films,
but I give it props for having one of the trippiest
endings ever told in cinema.

Photobucket
Fans of Japanese cinema, this is a must for
your collection.

The Wackness

Photobucket

The Wackness
A Coming of Age story that takes place in New York City.
This is a kind of movie that you just got to be patient with.
Don't judge it by the intro and the first scenes but
as a whole. This one's got some heart and soul.
It's about growing up and moving on and living your
life to fullest.

Photobucket
I would say that it's worth to check out but be patient
and it would pay off.

Repo! A Genetic Opera

Photobucket

Repo! The Genetic Opera

Picture the movie, SAW, as a musical with
gothic songs and you have this movie.
At first the whole idea attracted me.
I like musicals. So I thought this
is a dark musical like Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd.
It's a dark musical alright.
But I didn't like the songs and I thought
the story was too simple.
It kept repeating stuff and information,
made me think I was stupid to realize it in the first place.
I liked some of the effects and some of the characters,
but overall, I don't recommended.

Photobucket
If you don't mind a dark musical with blood,
then check it out, but don't expect a good
masterpiece like Burton's Sweeney Todd.

Danger Diabolik

Photobucket

Danger Diabolik

Interesting spy theme exploitation flick.
It's based on a comic from Europe.
I enjoyed watching it.
But it's not worth buying.
I love the music which is composed
by Ennio Morricone.

Photobucket

If you're in the mood for a cheesy action spy film,
then this is definitely your cup of tea.
And it's worth every second.
But if you're in the mood for a movie
like Bourne Identity, then don't even bother with this one.

Trailer:

Dolemite

Photobucket

Dolemite

I saw this early Monday morning to kick of
MLK B-Day celebration.
I heard of Dolemite before.
He had a cameo in Big Money Hustlas.
So I decided to give this a try.
There's one or two good scenes.
Overall, it's not worth your time.
Unless you're in the mood
for a cheesy grindhouse film
that is made to be terrible then
go for it.

Burn After Reading

Photobucket
Burn After Reading

The latest flick from the Coen Brothers.
If you're familiar with their work,
you'll not be disappointed.
To me, it's not their best work, but it's a fair movie.
It's a cross between Fargo and Intolerable Cruelty.
Based on the trailer, I thought it was going to be more of a comedy.
But there's very little comedy and more of their usual
drama.

Run Man Run

Photobucket

Run Man Run
This is like a sequel to Big Gundown (which I haven't seen yet).
But it can stand on its own.
This is my 10th view of a spaghetti western.
And I must say I am very satisfied with this one.
This is gotta be on my top 5 so far.
My personal goal is to watch 20 spaghetti westerns
so that I can educate myself with the genre.
Sergio Sollima is up there with Sergio Leone.

Photobucket
This is a must see.

The Road to Guatanamo

Photobucket
Road to Guatanamo
Intense documentary/drama
This is one of the few films that make
you hate the way U.S handles the
war on terror.
You get sucked into the story very
early and don't get out until the end.
It made me feel like I was trapped
along with these other innocent muslims.

Photobucket
Worth to buy for its strong message
and style.

Cannibal Holocaust

Photobucket

Cannibal Holocaust
Sick Movie.
You can tell the Blair Witch Project
was inspired by this.
I don't recommend people watching this
while eating a gourmet meal.
Be Warned.

The Fall / Suspiria with Dirty Mary Crazy Larry

Photobucket
Today I saw 3 movies.
The first one I saw with Linda.
It was the beautifully shot and beautifully directed,
The Fall.
Now I know why they say
this would be a good movie to watch
in blu ray. It's a make you feel good kind of movie.
It's artsy. But it's not for action lovers.
There is little bit of action but mostly
fantasy.

Photobucket
I say this is a nicer version of the movie Tideland
except with more color and bigger budget.
Good to own for its cinematography.
Trailer:

After this movie I took a break. 1 hour later, I started
my grindhouse double feature.
The first feature is:
Photobucket
Suspiria
An Italian horror film with a twist.
They say this is one of the best grindhouse films,
but in my opinion, it didn't live up to its hype.
This looks like a higher budget 80's movie.
The direction and the shots were excellent.
The problem I had was the story and some
of the acting. I was a little bit disappointed.
Photobucket
I'm glad I saw this for a few scenes but overall
I wouldn't like to see it again.
I guess you have to have an acquired taste for Italian horrors
to really like this movie.
Trailer:

But wait, there's another movie starting.
Get the coffee going.
After Suspiria I saw:
Photobucket
Dirty Mary Crazy Larry
A car chasing part action and part comedy.
It inspired Tarantino's Death Proof.
I was more awake and more
entertained with this movie than the previous movie.
Photobucket
Funny quirky dialogue. Bad ass car chasing scenes.
This is a must buy for fans of the genre.

Death Rides a Horse

Photobucket

Death Rides a Horse

I just finished watching my 9th spaghetti western.
Not bad. There are a lot of good scenes.
The story is good.
There's several stuff here that is
referenced in Kill Bill.
The kid watching his parents getting
murdered and the house burning.
"There's one thing, you should of killed me."
The bad part is that the sound quality
was horrible and the picture wasn't that
great either.
So the only way I'm going to watch this
again is if they ever have a restored
version or in the theater.
But, this is a must see for spaghetti
western fans.
