This is a very different kind of samurai movie. It was long and dramatic and funny as well. It's about this guy who is brought up to avenge his father's death as a samurai but instead of fighting with swords he uses that anger and transforms it into literature. Goes against several samurai codes. It has the 47 Ronin reference told in another perspective with a little bit of humor. This samurai movie has no battle scenes or blood. So, if you're expecting that, this will be disappointing. It has a sweet element to it. I didn't love it but I liked it as a whole. This is one to see when you're fully awake. I had to watch it in two settings because I dozed off the first time. Made Samurai Dynamite Shrimp over rice and had a big bottle of Asahi Beer with this movie (which is probably the main reason for dosing off).
