Wow! This reminded me a lot of Django Unchained, especially the first 30 minutes. The term "mandingo" means slaves from a certain region in the U.S. They take the male slaves and train them into bare knuckle fighters. That is highly referenced in Django Unchained. This movie had only three mandingo fights and they don't start until 45 minutes in. Majority of the movie focuses on life during slavery. Slaves being tortured, being sold, and of course being trained to fight for money. The last part of the movie focuses on love between a married white owner and a female slave. The wife of the cheating husband also creates a relationship with a black slave to get even with her husband. The way these plantation owners talk and the way they treat slaves are hardcore. That ending was crazy. Good warm up for Django Unchained. Would make an awesome double feature.
