Now for my comments on this:
Wow!!
Extra wow!!
This is a time travel/detective Korean movie.
I loved it so much.
It is made by Young-doo Oh
(who did Invasion Alien Bikini).
I loved Invasion Alien Bikini when I saw it at last year's festival.
Now comes this one.
With a budget of $30,000, this movie looks like it
was done with millions of dollars.
The story sucked me in right away.
It has its charms.
It was funny and cute.
It had a lot of kick ass scenes.
More than half of the movie deals with the detective aspect
then it turns into the time travel stuff.
I love the fighting scene inside the SUV.
Well done. 
I don't think I've ever seen a whole fighting sequence
all taking place in a moving vehicle.
And in another scene, this bad guy uses a measuring tape
as his weapon.  Also bad ass.
The story had an excellent flow.
Love the characters and the music.
This has to be my favorite film from the festival so far.
It always happens to me, some of my favorite movies
take a long time to get released on DVD.
Meanwhile, other crap gets released faster than the speeding bullet.
But, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
This is a must buy for the Asian section.
Maybe, I'll start a Time Travel section.
Can't wait to see this again.

No Rest For The Wicked

Screening #11:

No Rest For The Wicked
This is another crooked cop thriller from Spain.
It's more of a drama actually.
The opening scene was intense and awesome.
The rest of the movie is a slow build up
for another violent ending.
It turned out to be different than I imagined.
The bad cop actually turns out to be a good cop.
He just doesn't play by the rules.
It turns out that he was after a terrorist group.
I have to admit, I wasn't mentally ready for a slow paced movie
but I did like it somewhat.
I like that this cop likes to order a rum and coke
every single time he walks into a place.
And he chugs the drink good.
It made me want a rum and coke.
But, the girl investigating this case kind
of made like the movie less.
Not worth buying,  Maybe to watch depending on the mood.
Unit 7 was way better in my opinion.

Unit 7 (2012)

Unit 7
Awesome dirty cop/drug movie from Spain.
It was a lot of fun.
The story kept me alert at all times.
We got this group of 4 cops who take control
of the whole city run by drug trafficking.
Good solid story.
I love the bar scenes and the dialogue.
Love the shooting scenes throughout the film.
This is another personal favorite from the festival.
The music on here was also good. Might be worth buying.
I have to let this one sit through for a while.

The ABC's of Death (2012)

The ABC's of Death
I first heard about this project at last year's Fantastic Fest.
This is a collaboration from 26 directors
(most who have shown their films at the festival).
It is basically 26 short films put together all dealing
with some kind of death.
While I love the idea, I was a little let down with
majority of the stories.
There were about four of them I really loved and
the rest were so and so.
I love stories B, D, Q, and T.
The Bird was a little wacky.
The "dogfighting" was excellent.
Quack scene with the director trying to figure out what short
to make was hilarious.
The toilet death scene was fantastic (this one is in claymation).
This project is under Drafthouse Films so I'm sure
it'll be out on DVD one day.
Okay to check out but maybe not to buy.

Cold Blooded (2012)

Screening #8:

Cold Blooded
This crime/thriller from Canada was okay.

I saw four other movies earlier and maybe I'm getting

a little old but my head was worn out by the time

it came to this midnight screening.
I liked the story.

The problem I had with this was that the main

gangster wasn't very believable.
I was wanting someone a little more hardcore

and intimidating.
But I like the cheesy dialogue and the fact

that our main character (the female cop) has blood

on her face through almost the entire movie.
I like that they cut off her hand near the beginning and

the hand is being used as a prop through the whole thing.

Holy Motors (2012)

 Screening #7:

Holy Motors
This French part mystery/ part drama was not as great as I thought.
This story is partially based by a short this s
ame director did for the movie, "Tokyo."
It was actually my favorite story out of that movie.
So, I was a bit excited to see what story he can do as a feature.
This had some okay scenes.
The sewer scene and the accordion scene were my favorites.
This story gets a little old after a while.
It was a little too artsy for me.
The first half of the movie was good.
I think it was just too long.
But, oh well.
So far, my least favorite film of the festival.

Graceland (2012)

Screening #6:

Graceland
Good Crime Drama from the Philippines.
It's got kidnapping, corruption in politics and police,
and revenge. 
I enjoyed it a lot.
Well directed.
Good little twist towards the end.
My favorite scene is when they ask the main politician
to choose a girl among the young girls.
Yup, that doesn't sound good.
But, trust me, the revenge part comes into play a bit.
This is the story where a good guy character has to do
many bad things in order to do something good.
This is a movie to watch out for in the future.
Drafthouse Films picked it up for distribution.
