Tokyo!

New Release Tuesdays Presents:

Tokyo!
This was an interesting film.
There's three different stories.
The first story is directed by Michel Gondry.
The story was okay. The ending got a little
weird, but that's just Michel Gondry.
The second story was my favorite.
The character, Merde, is considered to a very memorable
character in my book. The ending of that story was okay.
The third story was not as good as the first
two. But still worth checking out.

As a whole, we have a good artsy kind of film.
I will only buy it for two reasons:
One, if I want to start a Michel Gondry collection,
I have to have this one.
Two, for that second story.
It was different.

Mad Detective

Mad Detective
This was a bad ass psychological thriller
from Hong Kong.
It kind of messed up my head a little
but it was easy to follow.
Every minute kept me alert.
Good original story.

Highly Recommend this film.
This gets an A.

Confessions of a Superhero

This is a dvd I was waiting 6 months for.
Blockbuster finally shipped it to me.
So tonight I had a late night screening
of this documentary.
I remember seeing these people in front of the Chinese Theatre
in Hollywood.
This documentary captures their personal lives.
The intro and the first act was good.
It slowed down a bit for the second act.
I think the filmmakers told the story good.
This is a must see for Superman fans.
This is a must have for a documentary collection.

Home Movie

Home Movie
This independent movie was shot
"Blair the Witch Project Style."
It starts out a little too normal then it turns
a little bit disturbing.
But not as disturbing as I thought.
Just like other movies that are shot like
this, one questions why the camera still
records in certain moments.
Even though there is not a very a good plot
for this story, it caught my full attention.
The parents are annoying and the kids are psycho,
but not psycho enough.
For this type of movie, I give it a C+

Europa Europa

I officially name every 4th Thursday
of every month as:
"Foreign Film Thursday"

Foreign Film Thursday Presents:

Europa, Europa
Here we have a German film that takes place
around World War 2.
It's based on a true story and it's original.
There's no complaints.
If I have to complain about something,
it would be on some of the music.
It sounded too similar to the Godfather theme song.

My grade for this WW2 flick is a straight up B.

Waltz With Bashir

New Release Tuesdays Presents:

Waltz With Bashir
Nothing good or at least interesting to me came out
today except for this animated flick from Israel.
I remember I kept seeing the trailer for this
movie on other dvds.
It looked interesting.
This whole thing is original.
I never seen an animated movie
that was part war movie and part documentary.
I was just there processing information.
It's not totally blown off the charts and
and entertaining.
But still, good enough to see once in your life.
I do love some of the parts in it.
I love the sounds, the music, and part of
the war scenes. I like the final images before it goes
to credits.

If you're into war movies, this is probably worth
to check out. If not, then you'll probably be a little
bored. My grade is a B-.

Election

Election
It is not Asian night nor is it Gangster Night,
but here we have both themes in one.
Election was an entertaining movie from Hong Kong.
There's some crazy scenes here and there.
I can't imagine anybody eating a spoon until
tonight.

It's not all bad ass, but it delivers.
